Latvian Folk Dance Group in London Salinieki

In July Salinieki travelled to Ireland to take part in the anniversary concert "(Pa) Saules Ceļu Izdejot" of the dance group "Karbunkulis". We danced nine dances together, including "Saule brida rudzu lauku", "Es izjāju Prūšu zemi" and "Ai bagāta man zemīte", which were new to the group.

In early May Salinieki travelled to Leicester to take part in the 10th Culture Day in the United Kingdom. We performed Aldis Salms's choreography "Dzīvības koks" and "Zeme zeļ, zeme plaukst".

Salinieki returned with great joy to "Dejo ar Mani", the Latvian folk-dance gala in Aberdeen, after being invited to take part in this wonderful event once again. During the concert we performed Aldis Salms's choreography "Dzīvības koks", the dance "Mēs ciemiņus gaidīdami", and closed the concert just before the finale with "Ai, tēvu zeme".

At the Latvian Independence Day concert in London, "Salinieki" performed for the first time a new dance choreographed by our leader Aldis Salms, "Dzīvības koks" ("Tree of Life"). The piece is designed to work with varying numbers of couples, which matters especially for diaspora groups. The premiere was filled with joy, warmth and genuine love for dance.

After resting up from the summer concerts, it's time to think about dancing again. We start the new season on Monday, 29 September 2025, at 19:00. We welcome men and couples to join us. We're a friendly group brought together by the love of folk dance. No previous dance experience is needed — just the willingness to learn and to attend rehearsals regularly.
