In early May Salinieki travelled to Leicester to take part in the 10th Culture Day in the United Kingdom.
The concert took place during the day, so rehearsals started early in the morning in Leicester’s town squares and old-town streets. Avoiding pedestrians and cyclists called for particular focus and a knack for improvisation.

The Culture Day programme began with a festive parade through the city to the concert venue at Jubilee Square.

At the main concert we performed two dances: Aldis Salms’ choreography “Dzīvības koks” and “Zeme zeļ, zeme plaukst”.
At the same time as the main concert there was also a flash-mob performance at St Peter’s Square, where we danced “Mēs ciemiņus gaidīdami”.

We thank the organisers for the wonderful event and for the opportunity to share Latvian culture in Leicester.
