Shortly before Midsummer, Salinieki travelled to the Irish town of Portlaoise to take part in the 20th anniversary concert “(Pa) Saules Ceļu Izdejot” of the dance group “Karbunkulis” on 20 June.

Three dance collectives took part in the concert — “Karbunkulis”, “Rietumkrasts” and “Salinieki” — along with the children’s dance group and the Latvian choir.

The theme of the concert was to dance through all four seasons of the year, beginning and ending with Midsummer. So we opened the concert with J. Purviņš’s dance “Iedzirkstīties”.

Right after that the group’s girls danced “Saule brida rudzu lauku”. This was the first time we performed this dance at a concert.

And shortly afterwards it was the boys’ turn to dance “Es izjāju Prūšu zemi”. This dance was also performed at a concert for the first time.

In the second part of the concert, our group’s first dance was “Rūnu raksti”.

After that we danced Aldis Salms’s choreography “Dzīvības koks”.
We also danced “Ai bagāta man zemīte” and “Zeme zeļ, zeme plaukst” in this concert. We closed the concert in a Midsummer mood with “Līgo danči” and “Uguns rituāls”.

We thank Pēteris and Henriks from “Londona Dejo” and Ilgars from “Jautrais Pāris”, who helped us make up the number of boys in Ireland.
